Creating Space in your Heart

Olivia Shurdova

We’re now well and truly into 2026, and in this case, the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Fire Element is ruled by our Heart energy,
which determines both our mental and emotional well-being.
If time allows, I invite you to take just a moment to check in with yourself, pausing and connecting with where you are in your awareness right now. Take it all in- the push and pull of where your mind may want to wander, all that may or may not feel good. An open space, where all is welcome.
How does this personal space feel? Does it feel open and spacious, or busy and scattered? Connected? Or disconnected?
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine you could describe the Heart energy as this personal space- a space that is all around you and within you, that determines how well you relateto others, and to yourself.
When the energy in this space opens and flows we tend to feel calm and joyful, we can communicate easily, and feel connected to ourselves and others.
When the space feels cluttered, blocked or shut, we may feel anxious, not ourselves, sad or overwhelmed. It becomes hard to connect with the spark of life within us, and life may look and feel dull.
As we enter this stage of the new year we have the opportunity to intentionally create space for ourselves, clearing whatever has been occupying it energetically- especially if it is not serving us. If we had this space available, what is it that we could then make room for? If we could enjoy a safe, open and flowing space, what joys might our heart tune into?

In all the years I have been working with people, working with the Heart energy has always been the most impactful. Acupuncture works wonderfully to clear the vessels (acupuncture meridians) of old trauma, pain and suffering, to make room for something new. So if you feel drawn to explore this in a session, feel free to reach out to me.
A few important updates:

  • For thoseof you who don’t know, I now work exclusively from my home clinic in the Northern Beaches. I feel truly blessed to be working from a beautiful clinic that we designed and built, a quiet and peaceful space set amongst beautiful bush. The clinic is set separately from the house, and there’s a waiting area in the garden where you can ground yourself before or after, listening to the lorikeets and kookaburras amongst the grevillea and magnolia trees. Cromer is only minutes away from the nearby suburbs of Dee Why, Collaroy, Narrabeen, Curl Curl and Brookvale. 15 minutes from Manly, 30 minutes from the CBD.
  • I have a new clinic number you can contact me through- 0466 018 550.
  • You also now have the option to book online. Here is the link you can use to book anytime.

And that’s it from me for now! I may not write often, but rest assured I am around, still doing my thing and enjoying it asmuch as I always have. I’m here when you need. 🙂
Warmest,
Olivia
